Why to rent a private accommodation in Cuba?
We think that tourists who come here to Cuba like to be in touch with our nature, our beaches, our culture and traditions, our music and rhythms, specially with the Cuban people. So, to stay in a private rented accommodation means to be in contact with our hospitality, the tourists may see how Cuban people live, what we are like, how we face our daily problems and how we solve them. In addition you can save money if you stay in a private house or apartment. Another reason is you may invite friends or guesses and they may spend the whole night with you; on the contrary at Cuban hotels to share some time with your friends is acceptable but not at your room. If one of your guesses have a child or an adolescent they child's name and ID number should be registered on a control guess book according to the laws.
Is it legal to rent private accommodation in Cuba?
Since 1997, private rented accommodation for foreign tourists was authorized by the Cuban government; due to the fact that Turism has a great increase. You can state to the Cuban authorities that you will stay in a private rented accommodation and you will not have any problem.
How should I find a specific house or apartment?
Using the option research set on the top of our site; please specify the requirements of the accommodation you would like to stay in, for example: the area, how many rooms, language you would like to be served, prices.
How should I make the reservation?
When you get the house or apartment you would like to stay in, please click Hostage Reservation on this section you will find some details about the accommodation. If you want more than one room you should follow the steps explained above in each single room you would like to have. Finally an application will appear and you should fill it out, the click Sent.
How should I get if my reservation is confirmed or not?
In a period of 48 hours we would send you an e-mail to the address you have written in the application. On this message we would confirm your reservation, we'd give you some information about the accommodation (address, phone). In addition we will contact with you 15 days before your arrival in order to confirm if you are coming to Cuba or not.
How should I pay the reservation? To whom should I pay? Should I pay the reservation before hand?
You should pay your reservation in cash when you contact with the owner of the accommodation. This pay should be before hand taking into account the price per day. You should not pay before hand if you don't come into the island.
What kind of currency should I pay the reservation?
The most used currency here in Cuba is the Hard Currency(CUC) , and the change rate is 1 US Dollar x 0.80 CUC. You can change your currency at the Currency Change Bureau located in different parts of the city or at the Airports. If you change the your currency to any person on the street you are breaking the law.
Very important: we recommend you to have Euros or other currency and not to have US Dollars because when you change this currency you have a 20 % off.
How should I behave?
In private houses or apartments you should behave properly. You can not get drunk, shout or speak in aloud voice, play music aloud or use drugs. In case all these things happen you are breaking the law.
