Visa and Passport

It does not matter what your nationality is; you need a passport for coming to Cuba. This passport is valid for 6 months from the right moment you get into our island. You need what is called "tourist card" as your visa. If you come to Cuba through Mexico, Canada or Bahamas the travel agencies offer you this card or here in Cuba you can get it in the airport.

Credit Cards


MasterCard, Electron Visa, Visa, Access, Cabal, Diners, Banamex and cards are accepted in most of the places. Northamerican credit cards are not accepted; so, a Visa Card from the USA is not accepted. You can get your currency in cash from the cards in different finnacial banks through the island. We recommend you to have money in cash because in the different parts of our country,especially in provinces, credit cards are not accepted. You can also use tourist card, such as: Thomas Cook and Visa.

Airport Taxes

Remember to pay 25 CUC as airport tax when you are leaving the country.

Electricity

In most the places the electricity is 110 V / 60 Hz, and in some places is 220 V / 60 Hz.

Telephone Communications

From the International Communication Center you can make any kind of international call. If you have cell phone you can use it, especially if you are in a tourist group, because if the group get divided you can send messages. Your cell phone should have the following requirements to function in Cuba: GSM (european norm), in 900 MHz band or TDMA (american norm), in 800 MHz band; for more details you can get in contact with CCOM Interprise or CUBACEL Interprise at the airport.

If you want to phone a person here in Cuba you should dial number 53, then the city’s code and finally the number you wish. If you want to phone a person from Cuba you should dial number 119, the country’s code and finally the number you wish. For national call you should dial number 0; then, city’s code and finally the numjber you wish.

Transportation

You can take a taxi or a tour bus or you can walk if it is a short distance. For your security we recommend you not to take a public taxi or bus.
